Tina Richards, PT

Tina received her degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Washington in 1991.  She has fourteen years of outpatient, orthopedic and sports experience with extensive continuing education in manual techniques, trigger point therapies, Jones Counterstrain, orthopedic diagnostics and rehabilitation, as well as women’s health issues.  Tina furthered her education in orthopedic injuries and became an Orthopedic Certified Specialist.

Tina believes the cornerstone to a good Physical Therapy program is progressive and appropriate strengthening.  She utilizes the Gary Gray Institute techniques, along with the Shirley Sahrmann approach to develop efficient and biomechanically driven patient re-strengthening and neuromuscular re-education.

Tina took a special interest in the Sacroiliac (SI) joint complex twelve years ago and began specializing in rehabilitation during pregnancy and the post-partum period. She finds it very rewarding to help mothers maintain an active and comfortable pregnancy and equally as rewarding to watch them return to normal function after giving birth.  Tina has also taken a special interest and specializes in the shoulder, along with the relationship between the neck and upper back to the shoulder.

Tina has always believed that each patient is unique and an eclectic approach that combines efficient manual techniques with progressive strengthening from both a functional and biomechanical approach is the best way she can serve her patients. She views each patient as a whole functional unit, instead of just looking at the injured area.  Tina believes it is critical to have patient’s perform supervised exercises designed to re-educate faulty muscle and movement patterns to restore function.

In her time away from work Tina enjoys spending time with her family outdoors, riding her horses and being active.
